Survey Shows High Value in Online Degrees
You’ve probably heard it said that a college degree can lead to new career and advancement opportunities. It’s a common reason people choose to go back to school for a degree. As more job-seekers turn to higher education, applicant pools are becoming more competitive. If you’re seeking a degree to stand out from the crowd and change your life, it’s important to get the most out of your time and effort.
Last year, more than 5,100 alumni were surveyed about their experiences at Ashford University. They may have had different reasons for going back to school, but the results of the survey show one thing: real benefits from getting a degree from Ashford University.
It Pays Off
Many seek a degree to increase earning potential. A bachelor’s or master’s degree can prepare degree holders for career advancement by equipping them with the skills they need to take on more complex job responsibilities, making them more valuable employees. In July 2017, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York released data on the labor market for recent graduates. Figures suggested that in some cases a college degree functions as a signal to employers -- a credential that could give college-educated job applicants an edge over the competition.
86% reported their Ashford degree gave them confidence to pursue new job opportunities.
It’s a Confidence Boost
Though difficult to quantify, confidence can have a big impact on your career and life. It can mean the difference between taking chances and playing it safe. Having a degree can qualify you for new jobs and might give you the confidence boost to go after opportunities you may not have gone after before.
Of the alumni surveyed, 86% reported that their Ashford degree gave them the confidence to pursue new job opportunities. Earning a degree isn’t easy; it takes commitment and hard work. Once you earn your degree, you’ll know that you can put your mind to something and succeed, which is a great translatable skill.
It’s Worth the Time
Earning a degree can be challenging. It’s not easy to go back to school if you’re balancing work and a family. That said, 88% of surveyed alumni reported their degree was worth the time investment. And while the potential for a higher salary is a big draw, many people go back to school for the sense of personal achievement. Education is life-changing, and you deserve all of the benefits a degree can bring.
At Ashford University, convenient online courses are designed to give students the flexibility to study when and where they want. If students want to jumpstart their future, a degree can help get them on the path to advancement. Potential students can take inspiration from the Ashford alumni who have already done it – they put in the time and effort to earn a degree and were able to see real benefits.
