Father of four Sean McKinney of South Jordan, UT is a U.S. Navy veteran who met a long-term goal of his by having earned his Bachelor of Arts in Health and Wellness from Ashford University at age 35.
When we interviewed Sean at an Ashford military event in 2012, he was still enrolled and raved about the convenience of Ashford’s online program. "I don't have to lug around a backpack, I don't have to go to a bookstore...everything is literally at my fingertips."
This convenience helped Sean juggle many duties along with earning his degree. “I have kids; a boy in basketball and a daughter in high school, and a younger son. And so life goes for me! What all this technology has done is it’s put education at my fingertips.” He also pointed out how nice it was to not have to be put onto a waiting list for courses he needed, as had been the case in the past with traditional universities.
“It’s always been a goal of mine to get my Bachelor’s degree. It’s been a while since I’ve been in school, but Ashford has made it possible for me to achieve my educational goals from anywhere I may be in the world.
“I’m just grateful. In the short amount of time I’ve been at Ashford, it really has helped me accomplish a goal. It really has.”
